Effective communications work is of uttermost important. It does not matter how brilliant you are but if you cannot articulate your ideas or give clear instructions for implementation, the work does not get done properly. The most important thing about effective communication is first to clearly know in your mind exactly what you want to say, and what outcome you desire. If it is not clear in your mind, it will not be clear to others. The shorter and simpler it is, the better.
